How much does a custom home cost?

The average price of the last 5 custom homes we built was $640,000. But as you can imagine, every custom home is different. And so is the price. Unlike other builders that lure you in with misleadingly low prices which exclude expensive items (like earthworks, driveway, and many features you’d expect to receive as standard), our prices are fully transparent, honest, and detailed. So you will know exactly what you will get and precisely what it will cost with no nasty surprises.

Do custom homes cost more than generic designs?

When comparing the price of generic, project homes in a catalogue, a custom home may appear to cost more. But when you look closely at a generic design, you realise you are often overpaying for things that aren’t important to you, and compromising on things you’ve always wanted in your home. With the right guidance, you can get the custom home you’ve always wanted – the exact floorplan, features, and finishes – for around the same price of an equivalent generic design.

How long does it take to build a custom home?

Our average project timeframe is nine months from breaking of ground. Your home may be finished months sooner or longer depending on the design. Sadly, many builders run months over time due to poor management, which means supplies or trades are not ready when they are needed. As a result, your house sits idle for weeks (sometimes months). Our proven process ensures everything is ordered and scheduled to the day, so your house is finished on time and on budget.

What’s the difference between a custom home and a project-built home?

Project builders usually build 10, 20 or even 100 houses a year. They often lure customers in with misleadingly low prices and commission salespeople. And they provide generic designs that may or may not suit your lifestyle, preferences, or block of land.

On the contrary, we start with a blank page, taking time to understand, clarify, and refine the exact vision you have for your home. We assess your site and optimise your design to minimise site costs and make the most of natural light, breezes, views, and privacy. And we give you honest pricing so you can plan with confidence knowing you are within your budget.

How will I know my home will suit our block of land?

Sadly, most builders fail to make the most of the land they are building on, resulting in homes that are dark and dreary (lacking natural light), uncomfortable (hot and cold), stuffy and unhealthy (without breezes), and exposed with little privacy.

We take time to assess your site and optimise your design to make the most of your land. In particular, we pay attention to orientation to make the most of the views (and privacy), natural light, and breezes. We also assess the slope and optimise the design to minimise earthworks. The result is a house that fits your surroundings and is naturally comfortable and healthy.

Should I renovate or knockdown and build from scratch?

The thought of knocking down an existing house can feel daunting (and even a little bit wrong). But starting from scratch is often the best way to get exactly what you want and make the most of your land.
